37 Junior Lecturers Served Notices Over Fake Certificates
The Intermediate Education Department has issued show-cause notices to 37 government junior lecturers after fresh verification found they allegedly submitted fake educational certificates during their regularisation process.
The intermediate education department said it had found fake educational certificates submitted by 37 government junior lecturers for their job regularisation in 2023. This comes days after it was found that colleges had forged the signature of senior officials on their fire no-objection certificates.
During a fresh verification exercise, the department re-examined the certificates of nearly 360 junior lecturers who were earlier regularised from contract services. Accordingly, information on the certificates’ authenticity was sought from respective universities.
As per the information received by the department, junior lecturers submitted post graduate or BTech certificates, which were not issued by respective universities. Following this the department has issueed show cause notices.
Junior lecturers were directed to respond to show cause notices as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them, and file a criminal case for forgery and cheating under the BNS, within seven days.
The department had appointed contract lecturers during the Congress and TD governments in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Their services were later regularised by BRS government.
However, there were complaints alleging that several contract junior lecturers had submitted fake certificates for their job regularisation, the department conducted multiple rounds of certificate verification.
In the earlier rounds of verification, 20 junior lecturers were dismissed after fake certificates were detected, while another 20 lecturers were terminated during the regularisation process.
