33-Year-Old Man Dies by Suicide After Mother’s Death in Bachupally
Karunakar was running a bakery in Vanasthalipuram which he closed after facing financial losses. Police said Karunakar spoke to a friend about his mother’s condition until 2 am, unaware of her passing.
Hyderabad: A 33-year-old man died allegedly by suicide just hours after learning of his mother’s death in Bachupally on Saturday morning, Bachupally police said on Sunday. Maroju Karunakar, a native of Khammam, had moved to the city while looking for a job.
His mother, Maroju Pullamma, 70, who had been unwell and was staying with her daughter Chandramma, died of a brain stroke in Khammam, late on Friday night.
Karunakar, Pullamma’s younger son, was running a bakery in Vanasthalipuram which he closed after facing financial losses. Police said Karunakar spoke to a friend about his mother’s condition until 2 am, unaware of her passing. He had told his roommate that he’d be leaving for his native village on Saturday morning but reportedly learnt of her death at 4 am through another friend.
He had reportedly sent a text to one of his relatives before taking the extreme step saying, “Take care of Chikamma… This is my last wish”.
When he failed to come out of his room by 9 am, his friends grew suspicious, broke the door open and found him dead. Bachupally police have registered a case based on a complaint from relatives.
