300 Maoist Cadres Surrendered Before Bhadradri Kothagudem Police So Far In 2025

Half a dozen CPI (Maoist) cadres of various ranks surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem district police on Saturday

Hyderabad: Half a dozen CPI (Maoist) cadres of various ranks surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem district police to leave the violent path of naxalism and lead a peaceful life with their family members.

Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police, B. Rohith Raju, said the Maoists after knowing about the welfare measures being taken up for them and also development of welfare schemes for tribals, provided under “Operation Cheyutha” programme by district police.

The surrendered Maoists included one Divisional Committee Member and Company/Platoon Committee (DVCM/CYPC), two Platoon Party Committee Members (PPCM) and Area Committee Member (ACM) and three Party Members (PMs) voluntarily decided to leave the violent path of Naxalism and lead a peaceful life with their family members.

This year, so far, 300 Maoists of various ranks including four DVCM/CYPCs, 19 ACM/PPCMs, 37 PMs, 107 Militia Members, 35 Revolutionary People's Committee (RPC) members, 47 Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan and Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangathan (DAKMS/KAMS) members, 30 Chetna Natya Manch (CNM) members and 21 Guerrilla Resistance Division (GRD) members, surrendered before the district police.

Rohit Raju said the Maoist lower cadres were not willing to comply with orders of top cadres and wanted to leave the party and return to their native villages to lead a peaceful life with their families, as CPI (Maoist) is in the final stages of extinction.

As part of that, so far 300 CPI (Maoist) cadres have already surrendered before Bhadradri Kothagudem Superintendent of Police only and were leading a peaceful life with their families with the rehabilitation money provided by Telangana.

“It also came to know that CPI (Maoist) cadres have fallen sick and are not even able to walk due to lack of food, support and cooperation from local Adivasi people living in nearby forest areas. This is a positive development that more than 90 per cent of the cadres, who are poor tribals, are now thinking about the development and wellbeing of their families and are therefore leaving the party and joining the mainstream,” he said.

“We request that all the other cadres who are still working in the CPI (Maoist) should leave and join the mainstream. Believing in the slogan ‘Poru Vaddu – Ooru Muddu’, 300 armed cadres of various ranks have joined the mainstream so far with approximately Rs.58 lakh been provided as interim relief for their rehabilitation,” he said.

He said that the Telangana government was very positive about the development and welfare of the tribals. The Police department is doing its best to protect the forest wealth of Karreguttalu. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) were also going to set up new police camps on Karreguttalu, he said.

“We appeal to tribals that till the time you cooperate with CPI (Maoist) either due to faith or fear, your tribal areas will not be developed. Development can only happen through democratic governments. The peaceful life of the people with development is the police motto,” he said.

The Maoists surrendered on Saturday would be given instant relief of Rs.25,000 each. Remaining amount of Rs.10.75 lakh will be deposited in their bank accounts in the form of cheques after receiving their Aadhaar cards and bank accounts.
