Security Forces Continue Major Operation in Karreguttala

Charla (Chhattisgarh): Three Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in the Dharmathallagudem forest area of Bijapur district on Thursday. The encounter took place amid an ongoing search operation that began three days ago near the Karreguttala region.
The gunfight took place at a forest in Karegutta hills in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district along the inter-state border in the morning when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said.
Acting on reliable intelligence indicating the movement of top Maoist leaders and cadres using Karreguttala as a base, central paramilitary forces launched a large-scale operation. The operation involves personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Task Force (STF).
Nearly 3,000 personnel are participating in the search operation, which continues to intensify in the region.
