3 Injured In Jalavihar RO Plant Blast

Three workers were injured in an explosion at a water supply RO plant in Jalavihar on PVNR Marg on Wednesday, reportedly due to pressure buildup in the unit, police said.

The injured were identified as Appulu Naidu, Anji, and Laxman, all staff at the plant. Co-workers rushed them to hospitals—Naidu and Anji were admitted to Gandhi Hospital, while Laxman was taken to a private hospital in Somajiguda. One of them is stated to be in critical condition.

Police suspect excessive pressure in the RO filter or compressor unit triggered the explosion. The case is under investigation.

Inter-state burglar arrested for 30 thefts

Choutuppal police arrested an inter-state offender involved in multiple thefts across Hyderabad and other districts. Teams recovered cash, a car, valuables and several electronic gadgets. According to the police, “The accused, identified as Mikkili Sam Richard alias Vamshi Krishna, 43, a native of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and currently residing in Hyderabad, was apprehended following investigation. The accused was involved in a series of thefts targeting different areas using a similar modus operandi. He targets locked houses, break opens them using a rod and collects all the valuables before fleeing away from the spot.”

During the operation, police recovered a car, `7 lakh cash and additional bank deposits. They also seized multiple electronic items with accessories. Three small rods believed to have been used in committing the offences were also recovered.

According to officials, the accused operated across several police station limits, including Balanagar, Begumpet, Chaitanyapuri, Chikkadpally, KPHB, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Malkajgiri, Narsingi, Uppal and others police stations.

Police registered cases and produced the accused before the court for judicial remand. Officials said further investigation was underway to identify possible accomplices and link additional cases.

Headmaster, clerk held for taking ₹15K bribe

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Warangal district unit on Wednesday arrested two officials — a headmaster and an assistant clerk of ZPHS, after they were caught accepting ₹15,000 bribe for doing a favour.

Accused officer J. Ravi Kumar, headmaster of the ZPHS at Ayodhayapuram village in Gudur of Mahbubabad district and G. Chandramouli, the school assistant incharge clerk, were caught red-handed by the ACB officials, for taking the bribe amount of `15,000 from the complainant, for preparing the bills of retiral benefits pertaining to Contributory Pension Scheme of the complainant and forwarding the same to the AGA office.

The tainted bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Chandramoulu. Both the accused performed their duties dishonestly in order to seek undue favour. The arrested were produced before the special judge related to SPE & ACB cases in Warangal. The case is under investigation. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons, a press statement issued by ACB, said.

Man killed, friend injured in road mishap

A youngster died and his friend sustained serious injuries in a road accident under the Kushaiguda police station limits after their motorcycle reportedly lost control and rammed into a divider late on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Salimetla Nani, 21, a resident of APIIC colony. “He was travelling with his friend Ashok Yadav on a motorcycle from ECIL towards Radhika crossroads when the accident occurred,” the police informed.

According to the police, the rider lost control of the vehicle causing it to crash into the road divider. Both occupants were thrown onto the road due to the impact.

Locals, who witnessed the accident, alerted emergency services and the injured were shifted to nearby hospital after an ambulance reached timely. Doctors declared Nani dead while undergoing treatment, stating that he sustained severe head injuries.

Meanwhile, Ashok Yadav suffered grievous injuries to his head and right jaw and is currently undergoing treatment.

Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s relative, Anil, police registered a case and initiated an investigation.

Burglars strike in Kushaiguda, steal gold, cash

A burglary was reported under Kushaiguda police station limits after unidentified persons broke into a locked house and decamped with valuables while the family was away.

According to police, the complainant, Kumar Dharmarajan, a resident of Saipuri Colony in Sainikpuri left for Kerala with his family on March 31 and returned home around midnight on April 5. Upon arrival, he found the main door lock of his house broken, raising suspicion of a break-in.

On entering the house, the family discovered that four wardrobes, three on the ground floor and one on the first floor were forcibly opened. On verification, around 15 grams of gold ornaments, some silver articles and cash were found missing.

The complainant suspected that unknown persons might have gained entry by breaking the main door lock and committed the theft in their absence.

Kushaiguda police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Three workers injured working on railway bridge at Kagaznagar

Three workers from West Bengal were injured while fixing a new iron bridge over Peddavagu as part of the third railway track works at Kagaznagar in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district on Wednesday.

According to sources, around 18 workers were engaged in the bridge work when the incident occurred. Three of them slipped while working with the support of a rope, fell, and got stuck midway on the bridge.

Co-workers launched a rescue operation, using gas cutters and supplying oxygen to the trapped workers. Police and medical teams rushed to the spot, and after prolonged efforts, the injured workers — including Ravi and Musthafa — were rescued safely and shifted to a hospital for treatment.

10-year RI for woman in trafficking case

The Additional Sessions Judge at Nampally has convicted Kalpana Goswamy, 45, and sentenced her to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956.

A resident of Prashanth Towers, Musheerabad, Goswamy was arrested twice by Musheerabad police in 2017 and booked in Crime No. 276 of 2017 under Section 370 IPC and Sections 3, 4, 5(1)(a) of the Act.

Alongside the prison term, the court imposed a fine of ₹4,000. The conviction, officials said, was the result of sustained efforts by the Victim Assistance Unit, Women Safety Wing, Hyderabad, which counselled and supported victims throughout the trial. Their consistent deposition, coupled with effective coordination between the investigating officer and court duty staff, contributed to the successful prosecution, according to a press release issued by DCP, Women Safety Wing, Hyderabad.

Youngster killed in Bachupally bike crash after hitting pole

A 19-year-old helper allegedly died after a motorcycle he was travelling on lost control and crashed into an advertising hoarding pole in Bachupally, police said on Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Kommu Ajay, a resident of Bachupally and an employee at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, police said.

According to police, Ajay was heading towards Bachupally in the early hours of Wednesday when he allegedly lost control of the motorcycle. The vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a hoarding pole.

The impact threw him off the vehicle and he fell on the other side of the road, while the motorcycle landed on the road divider, police said.

Locals shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead while undergoing treatment due to severe injuries.

Based on a complaint, Bachupally police registered a case.

Wife, brothers held for husband’s murder; police suspect planned killing

A woman allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her brothers, with police suspecting it to be a premeditated killing following frequent domestic disputes between the couple.

The accused, identified as Soni, along with her brothers, allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate her husband, Jatavath Narender, 40, after repeated family conflicts. Police said Narender was addicted to alcohol and frequently quarrelled with his wife.

According to investigators, the trio executed the murder and initially attempted to pass it off as a natural death. However, suspicions raised by the deceased’s mother prompted a closer examination of the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police said Narender was strangled to death. The crime came to light after family members noticed suspicious circumstances and alerted authorities. Based on their complaint, police launched a detailed investigation which revealed the alleged involvement of the wife and her brothers.

During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to their role in the crime. Police have taken all three accused into custody and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.

SSC student dies by suicide after scolding

A 15-year-old SSC student ended his life by suicide late on Tuesday after being scolded by his mother for returning home late and not preparing for his final exam scheduled on April 13.

According to Falaknuma police, the student completed his exam at 12.30 pm and spent time with friends before returning home late at night. His mother reprimanded him for neglecting his studies. Later that night, he locked himself in the storeroom.

At around 11.45 pm, his mother noticed the door latched from inside and, peeping through the window, found that the student had taken his life. Police said the student is survived by three sisters; his father works as a cab driver in the USA.

Teen worker murdered over food row

A 16-year-old juice centre employee was brutally murdered in front of Lucky Juice Centre, Tolichowki, in the early hours of Wednesday following a quarrel over food.

According to Mehdipatnam police, the victim had closed the shop at 2 am and asked his co-worker Mufil to buy him chaat as he was hungry. When Mufil refused, an argument broke out, during which he attacked the victim with an iron rod. The victim suffered a brain haemorrhage and died while being taken to hospital.

Police said the victim, a resident of Tolichowki, hailed from Bosnapur village in Bihar and had come to Hyderabad three months ago in search of work.

Based on a complaint from his elder brother, police registered a case of murder against Mufil and took him into custody.
