Telangana Police Expect More Maoist Surrenders
The anticipation follows the recent surrender of senior Maoist leader Sujatakka, a major breakthrough for the state police.

Hyderabad:Speculation has been growing that senior Maoist leaders, including members of its central committee (CC), may surrender before Telangana police. The anticipation follows the recent surrender of senior Maoist leader Sujatakka, a major breakthrough for the state police. Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy, who recently took charge, is said to be focusing on encouraging top Maoist leaders to join the mainstream.
Taking advantage of differences between state and central committee leaders in releasing statements on giving up arms and joining the mainstream, the intelligence and SIB officials reportedly gathered intelligence from their sources on the regular movements of top leaders. A total of 10 CC members are from Telangana, and recently, two of them were gunned down in an alleged encounter in Chhattisgarh.
Sources said police expect the possible surrender of CC member Mallojula Venugopal and state committee leader Asanna, among others, following growing rifts in the leadership. However, officials have not issued any formal confirmation. Following the surrender of senior Maoist leader Sujatakka, whose real name is Pothula Padmavathi, police obtained inputs that would help the police to make more leaders come out of the banned outfit and join the mainstream.

Hyderabad:The Hyderabad police have arrested three men for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a 68-year-old man and making unauthorised transactions totalling Rs 1.95 lakh from his bank account. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Moin Uddin, 31, of Nehru Nagar, Ranga Reddy; Mohammed Syed Salman, 21, of Panchasheela Colony, Balanagar; and Mohammed Hussain, 32, of Rajendranagar.
