3 Arrested for Possessing Narcotics

Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police on Saturday arrested three men for possessing narcotic substances, near IDL lake in Kukatpally. Kukatpally inspector K. Rajesh identified the accused as Kacchawa Kalu Ram, autorickshaw driver from Subhashnagar, Jeedimetla; Shamlal Bishnoi, a chemical worker from Venkateshwara Colony, Quthbullapur; and Anil Bishnoi, 22, a solvent trader from Bank Colony, Suchitra. All three hail from Rajasthan. A search of their belongings led to the seizure of 1.175 kg of ganja, 1.262 kg of poppy straw, and 18 grams of MDMA.
6 techies use drugs at birthday party, held
Hyderabad: Excise officials raided a birthday celebration following a tip-off about the use of narcotic drugs and arrested six software professionals at a farmhouse in Chevella on Saturday night. Two others who did not test positive for let off. The host, Abhijeet Banerjee, had organised the gathering to celebrate his birthday.
The Special Task Force (STF) Teams B and C raided the farmhouse located within the Chevella excise police limits, and caught six men who had reportedly consumed heroin.
During the raid, police seized 20 grams of hashish, 0.05 grams of LSD blots, and five bottles of foreign liquor. Officials said Banerjee had procured the drugs from Himachal Pradesh. The party goers were subject to an instant drug test and six were taken into custody after testing positive, while two others were left off.
Police also seized three high-end vehicles collectively valued at over `50 lakh, along with six mobile phones.
The excise police have also named the farmhouse owner, Aziz, in the FIR. He is currently on the run. Police estimate the total value of the seized drugs to be around Rs.2 lakh.
“We have not been able to establish Aziz’s role in the supply or consumption of drugs yet. But we are investigating,” Chevella excise inspector Sreelatha told Deccan Chronicle.
While STF officials have denied the usage of heroin, sources from the excise department revealed that the accused first tested positive for the contraband.
Officials have for now not mentioned a drug history linked to the accused. For now, they have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and have been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
Housewife dies by suicide at her apartment
Hyderabad: A 43-year-old housewife died by suicide at her apartment building in Urdu Galli, Himayathnagar, on Friday. Narayanguda SI Sandeep identified the deceased as Pooja Jain, survived by her husband Arun Kumar Jain and their two children.
On Friday around 11.40 am, a relative, Susheel Kumar Jain, informed her brother, Bahubal Kumar Jain, a businessman from Punjagutta, that Pooja had taken the extreme step. She was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Hyderguda, where doctors declared her brought dead, Bahubal mentioned in his complaint.
The complaint stated that Pooja had been suffering from mental health issues and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Banjara Hills. She was reportedly under psychological stress and was not communicating with anyone in the recent days.
Choreographer held in Pocso case: Police
Hyderabad: The Gachibowli police earlier this month arrested Tollywood choreographer Krishna Master in a Pocso case, according to information available on Sunday.
Inspector Mohd Habeebullah Khan said the arrest followed a complaint filed by a minor’s mother, alleging sexual harassment. The police had registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Police said the minor was the daughter of the woman that the choreographer was in a relationship with. Following the complaint, he was arrested on July 16. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
