2,791 Booked for Drunk Driving Across Hyderabad During New Year Checks

Hyderabad: As part of New Year celebrations, police conducted extensive drunk-and-drive checks across the three police commissionerates in the city, leading to the booking of a large number of offenders.

Police registered cases against 2,791 people for driving under the influence of alcohol. Of them, 1,198 were booked under the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits, 928 in Cyberabad, and 605 in the Rachakonda Commissionerate, officials said.

The special enforcement drive was carried out to curb drunk driving, prevent road accidents, and ensure public safety during the festive period. Police officials stated that strict action would continue against violators to discourage reckless driving and promote responsible behaviour on the roads.
