2,597 SHGs Benefit From Rs 289 Cr Loan

Hyderabad: Loans worth Rs 288.85 crore under bank linkage were distributed to 2,597 self-help groups (SHGs) on the occasion of Independence Day.
Under the Self Employment Programme (SEP), Rs 1.15 crore was extended to 155 individuals for setting up micro-enterprises.

Four people who received offer letters—Madhuraj, Emran Khan, Naveena, and Varun Tej—were also appreciated during the event.
Driving licenses for two-and three-wheeler light motor vehicles were also issued to five women to support their livelihoods. This financial year, 3,460 new SHGs were formed under GHMC’s initiatives.
In addition to this, more Indiramma canteens would soon be inaugurated across the GHMC limits and the civil registration system portal for issuing birth and death certificates will be launched shortly to facilitate public access to these services. The announcements were made after unfurling the Tricolour at GHMC head office on the occasion of Independence Day.
The Telangana Grameena Bank, Suraram branch, sanctioned Rs 5.5 lakh to 11 transgender entrepreneurs in Quthbullapur circle for ventures such as curry points, catering units, paper plate making, jute bag making and cloth stores.
Some of the beneficiaries include R. Jasmine (curry point), D. Sailaja (Vijaya Durga Enterprises), Sakhi Murram (cloth stores), K. Anitha (jute bags making) and Salma Begum (catering unit).
Speaking at the event, one of the transgender beneficiaries said, “This is not just a job for us. It gives us self-respect, independence and dignity in society. We are grateful to GHMC for this support.”
Officials highlighted that GHMC’s initiative was aimed at reducing discrimination and ensuring equal rights, stressing that such support is not charity but a step toward social equality.
