247 motorists held in weekend drunken driving drive in Cyberabad
18 offenders were caught with BAC levels ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml

Hyderabad: A special drunken driving drive was conducted by Cyberabad traffic police this weekend, leading to the arrest of 247 people. As many as 189 two-wheelers drivers, 13 three-wheelers, 44 four-wheeler drivers, and one heavy vehicle were caught during the drive, the police said.
The police said 18 offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, five offenders were caught with BAC ranging between 301 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml. All those caught will be produced before the court concerned on Tuesday.
If anybody indulges in driving under influence of alcohol and cause accidents killing people, such persons will be arrested and sent to jail under Section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)-2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) for which maximum punishment is 10 years of jail and with fine, the police said.
