Those found driving under the influence were taken into custody, shifted to respective police stations and counselled. The operation was carried out by Nizamabad City, Makloor, Navipet, Jakranpally and Sirikonda police stations. Assistant commissioner of police L. Nizamabad: Police arrested 46 persons in drunken driving cases across the Nizamabad division on Tuesday. Of them, 24 were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from one to three days, depending on the level of alcohol consumed, while the remaining 22 were released after paying fines. Acting on the directions of police commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya, police teams conducted sobriety checks under various police station limits.
