Hyderabad: Ritoji Basu, 22, from West Bengal died allegedly by suicide at a hostel in Madhapur at 10.30 pm on Monday. She was staying at the hostel in Siddiquenagar with one Harsh. Her suicide was discovered after the guard and other residents did not get any response from her and called the police.
Car Catches Fire, Occupants Escape Unhurt
Hyderabad: A 2006-model car caught fire in Ghatkesar on Tuesday. One Sai, who was at the wheel, stopped the car on noticing the fire and escaped along with three occupants. They were headed to Komarelli from Gachibowli, and were heading to Annojiguda to pick up another friend when the fire occurred.
Kukatpally Police Arrest Eight for Obscene Acts
Hyderabad: The Kukatpally police on Tuesday apprehended eight persons for allegedly performing obscene acts and offering sexual favours. They were served notices and let off with a warning. They would be produced before a magistrate and bound over for one year.
Man Arrested for Threatening CM’s PR Office Over Dargah Issues
Hyderabad: Saifabad police on Tuesday detained one Mohammed Ali of Langer Houz a man who called up the Chief Minister’s public relations office and threatened the personnel with dire consequences if they did not redress issues facing the Langer Houz dargah.
Based on a complaint lodged by the CM PRO assistant secretary, police registered a case and the IT cell tracked Mohammed through his mobile location. Police confirmed that it was not a bomb threat.
Two Persons Died in Separate Road Accidents
Hyderabad: Two persons died in separate road accidents in Medchal on Tuesday. In one instance, 28-year-old Sri Charan died when a lorry hit his two-wheeler near Rekulabavi Chowrastha. Medchal inspector A. Satyanarayana said Charan was heading from Kamareddy to Medchal.
In the second case, E. Ushappa, 40, man died in a hit-and-run accident near the Medchal checkpost on Tuesday. Two others were injured in the incident. They were going on a bike when the unidentified vehicle hit their two-wheeler and sped away.
Arabic Teacher Sentenced to 3 Years for Sexual Assault in LB Nagar
Hyderabad: Special Judge Gaurav of the Fast Track Court in LB Nagar convicted Mohammad Shahbaaz, a 36-year-old Arabic teacher, to three years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a student in 2019. The case was investigated by the Vanasthalupuram police.
Shabaaz was also penalised Rs.5,000. The victim was awarded a compensation of Rs.1 lakh for trauma.
Police Arrested UP Native for Theft in Gunrock Enclave
Hyderabad: The police arrested one Aadesh Gupta, a UP native, for theft and recovered Rs.90,000 cash, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs.3.50 lakh from him, said Karkhana station house officer Valishetty Ramakrishna. Gupta stayed at the house of his employee, contractor P. Sundaram, in Gunrock Enclave. He stole the keys to the almirah and made off with the money, police said.
Gachibowli Police seek Prabhakar's Custody
Hyderabad: The Gachibowli police on Tuesday filed a petition in the Junior Civil Judge-cum-IX Metropolitan Magistrate court at Kukatpally seeking custody of Bathula Prabhakar, who was arrested at a pub in Gachibowli on Saturday night during which he shot at a policeman.
Gachibowli inspector Mohd Habubullah Khan said, “We have applied for custody. The court may take a couple of days to take a decision. We aim to uncover Prabhakar’s plans, his connections, and other crucial details. Once we have him in custody, we can investigate further.”
Prabhakar has been linked to nearly 80 cases across the country, including 11 in Telangana and 12 in Andhra Pradesh. After his arrest, police seized three firearms and around 480 bullets from his possession. He had reportedly acquired two pistols from Bihar to eliminate an inmate with whom he had a past enmity from his time in Visakhapatnam jail.
During the arrest operation at the pub, Prabhakar opened fire at the Madhapur CCS team. In the encounter, head constable Venkataram Reddy sustained an injury to his thigh and big toe.
