22 Maoists Surrender Before Mulugu SP

Superintendent of police P. Shabarish stressed the importance of reintegration and assured the surrendering members of full government support, including assistance in livelihood, housing, and rehabilitation

Warangal: Twenty-two members of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered to police in Mulugu district on Friday. The move comes under the Telangana Police’s rehabilitation initiative “Poru Kanna Ooru Minna and Return to Your Village,” which aims to reintegrate underground extremists into mainstream society and help them return to their families.

The surrender event, attended by senior officials from the Mulugu district police and the CRPF 39th Battalion had notable cadres such as Madavi Masa — an ACM rank cadre from Yakannagudem village who joined the movement in 2010 — Muchaki Joga Ram from Mallampeta, Chhattisgarh, and Area Committee Member Tati Joga from Tummiriguda, Chhattisgarh. Other surrendered members include Punem Sukku, Koram Paparao, Routu Hanumayya, Vetty Venkanna, and Madavi Joga.

Superintendent of police P. Shabarish stressed the importance of reintegration and assured the surrendering members of full government support, including assistance in livelihood, housing, and rehabilitation. “This is a message to all those still in the underground. The government is ready to support those who wish to leave behind violence and live with their families in peace,” he said.

The surrender was further monitored by a team of police officials, including Eturunagaram ASP Shivam Upadhyay, CRPF PGM Panchamilal, Mulugu DSP Ravinder, CI Kumar (Venkatapuram), CI Ravinder (Pasra), SI Tirupati (Venkatapuram), and SI Venkatesh (Kannayigudem).
