21-Yr-Old Gets 20 Years RI for Raping Minor Girl

The case was registered at the Jagtial Town Police Station by inspector Jayesh Reddy under the Pocso and SC/ST (POA) Amendment Act and the investigation was conducted by the DSPs Venkata Raman and Prakash.

Karimnagar: Sunkala Srinivas, 21, was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty for the rape of a minor girl through special fast track court here in Jagtial district on Monday.

The case was registered at the Jagtial Town Police Station by inspector Jayesh Reddy under the Pocso and SC/ST (POA) Amendment Act and the investigation was conducted by the DSPs Venkata Raman and Prakash.

The evidence was presented to the fast track special court by the public prosecutor (PP) and the court duty officers. After going through the case, the additional principal district and sessions judge G. Neelima sentenced him. The court ordered a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the minor girl.

Following the sentencing, district SP Ashok Kumar emphasised that no criminal can escape punishment and that the police and prosecution will ensure swift legal investigation and judicial process.

He commended PP Ramakrishna Rao, DSPs Venkata Ramana and Prakash inspector Jayesh Reddy, CMS SI Srikanth and constables Srinivas, Kiran and Sridhar for their efforts in securing the conviction.
