2,000 Cops Deployed for Golconda Bonalu Security

Hyderabad:Hyderabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday inspected the security and bandobust arrangements for the Sri Jagadambika Mahankali Ashada Golconda Bonalu celebrations, which commenced with the offering of the first Bonam at the historic Golconda Fort.

The commissioner conducted a field inspection from the foothills to the temple atop the fort, reviewing security deployments and arrangements made for devotees. Following the inspection, he offered prayers at the Jagadambika Mahankali temple and participated in special rituals.

Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar said elaborate advance arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival without causing inconvenience to devotees. Around 2,000 police personnel are deployed across the temple premises and surrounding areas to provide comprehensive security.

Special police contingents have also been stationed along the entire stretch from Langar Houz crossroads to the temple inside the fort. Police are also using drone cameras and an extensive CCTV surveillance network to monitor the festival and maintain law and order.

The Crime Wing has intensified vigil to prevent offences such as pickpocketing and chain snatching, while dedicated SHE Teams have been deployed to ensure the safety of women devotees. The traffic police are also in place special parking and traffic management arrangements to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and regulate the heavy influx of devotees.

Sajjanar said the Law and Order and Traffic wings, along with other government departments, were working in close coordination to ensure that the Ashada Bonalu festivities are conducted peacefully, safely and in a spiritually vibrant atmosphere.

Joint commissioner of police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, DCP (CAR Headquarters) R. Venkateswarlu, DCP (Golconda Zone) J. Raghavendra Reddy and other senior police officers participated in the inspection.
