2 Held With Rs 52 Lakh Worth Ganja In Nalgonda

NALGONDA: Kethepally police arrested two persons near the Kethepally toll plaza in Nalgonda district and seized 104.5 kg of ganja worth Rs.52.5 lakh from their possession, police said on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Paramvir Singh alias Lambu, 42, a lorry driver from Satwari in Jammu, and Shah Alam Parvesh alias Alam Ansari, 37, a painter from Mumbai. Police said three other members of the gang — Bikram Singh from Jammu, Farooq alias Raju Bhai from Mumbai and Bhavu alias Kedar Pradhan from Odisha — are absconding.

Superintendent of police Sharath Chandra Pawar said Kethepally police intercepted a lorry heading towards Hyderabad at the toll plaza following a tip-off about ganja transportation.

Police found the contraband concealed in the vehicle and caught the two accused when they allegedly tried to flee. During interrogation, the accused told police they had procured the ganja from the Bhishmapur forest area in Ganjam district of Odisha and were transporting it to Mumbai.

Police formed special teams to trace the absconding accused.
