2 Class IX Students Swept Away In Nsp Left Canal

People present near the canal noticed the incident and alerted the police: Reports

NALGONDA: Two Class IX students were washed away in the Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) Left Canal at Ramanagutta in Raghunathapalem mandal of Khammam district on Wednesday.

The victims, Abdul Sahani and Shashank Sagar, both aged 11, reportedly went to the canal for swimming and were swept away by the strong water flow. The two were classmates and neighbours from Balaji Nagar in Khammam city.

As schools were closed for the day, the boys travelled about eight kilometres from their colony to the NSP Left Canal at Ramanagutta. While swimming, they were caught in the current and went missing.

People present near the canal noticed the incident and alerted the police. Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation in the canal.
