2 Booked for Selling Newborn Baby Boy for Rs.1L in Mahbubnagar
The case was booked against Tarun and Bheemaiah based on a complaint lodged by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) supervisor Jagdeeswari

Hyderabad: The Mahbubnagar police registered a case against two persons for selling a new-born baby boy for Rs.1 lakh in the district.
The case was booked against Tarun, who purchased the baby and the middleman Bheemaiah, based on a complaint lodged by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) supervisor Jagdeeswari.
Mahbubnagar Rural police station Sub-Inspector G Vijay Kumar told Deccan Chronicle on Saturday that a kidnap case under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Section 81 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act (prohibiting the sale and procurement of children for any purpose) was registered against Tarun and Bheemaiah.
“We are collecting more details from the baby’s parents Neelamma and Keshavaiah to know the reasons behind selling the child,” Kumar said, adding that Neelamma delivered the baby at the government hospital in Mahbubnagar on June 16, 2026.
The couple residing at Telugugudem in the district was already blessed with two sons and a daughter. “We are yet to probe the link between Bheemaiah and the couple and how he convinced them to sell the baby,” he said.
Kumar said Bheemaiah became acquainted with Tarun as they belong to the same caste. The incident came to light when the baby was not seen at Neelamma’s house for the last few days. The village sarpanch came to know about it and alerted the ICDS supervisor Jagdeeswari.
Jagdeeswari then inquired into the incident and found that the baby was sold for Rs.1 lakh, prompting her to lodge a complaint with the police. The baby is now under the safe custody of the caretakers of Shishu Vihar in the district.
