19-Kg Commercial LPG Price Up By ₹52

Association president Jagan Mohan Reddy said the hike was nominal in the context of international trends: Reports

HYDERABAD: The commercial LPG price was increased on Monday, with the cost of a 19-kg cylinder in Hyderabad rising by ₹52, from ₹3,315 to ₹3,367, according to the Telangana LPG Distributors Association. The association attributed the increase to a rise in the dollar-rupee exchange rate of about two per cent.

Association president Jagan Mohan Reddy said the hike was nominal in the context of international trends. “This ₹52 hike on a 19-kg cylinder can be considered nominal. With crude prices rising in the international market, people can understand the situation.”

Hotel operators said the increase had added to cost pressures. Majaaz Ahmed, vice-president of the Medium Size Hotels Association of Telangana, said pricing had become difficult and customer footfall had declined. He said business had been affected since the West Asian conflict began.

Managements of ‘Udupi’ hotels in the city said menu prices had been increased by ₹30 to ₹50 for items that consume more LPG, including dosas and puris. They reported a decline of around 30 per cent in customer numbers. The association said nearly 42,000 hotels, cafés and eateries in the state were being affected, with businesses reporting a gradual loss of customers.
