19 Gates of Jurala Project Opened To Release 1.04 Lakh Cusecs of Water
Jurala project is brimming with inflows as the catchment areas are registering heavy rainfall coupled with inflows from the upstream areas

Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation department officials opened 19 gates of Jurala project and released 1.04 lakh cusecs of water downstream as it is getting 1.08 lakh cusecs of inflows from the upstream areas in Karnataka and its surroundings.
With the catchment areas of Jurala project registering heavy rainfall coupled with inflows from the upstream areas, Jurala project is brimming with inflows. The present storage level of the water is 6.878 TMC, which is 71.23 per cent of the total storage.
The Jurala Project, which is also known as Priyadarshini Jurala Project (PJP), is a major irrigation and hydroelectric project located on the Krishna River in Telangana. It is situated near Revulapally village, about 10 kilometers from Kurvapur in Mahabubnagar. The project completed in 1995 is designed to provide irrigation to drought-prone areas and also generate hydroelectric power.
