Lahore: Law enforcement agencies in Pakistan's Punjab province arrested 18 militants of various banned terror outfits over the past week, the police said on Saturday. According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police, over 100 intelligence-based operations were conducted in different districts of the province.
18 people were arrested for their links with banned organisations, including ISIS, Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, from Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Bhakkar, Lahore and Multan districts, the CTD said.
Over 3 kgs of explosives, eight detonators, 13.1 feet of safety fuse, 4.5 feet of prima cord, four pistols and 21 bullets have been recovered from the suspects.
The suspects were planning terror activities in Punjab, the CTD said, adding that cases have been registered and further investigation is under way.
