SIDDIPET: BRS Assembly deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao on Thursday accused the Congress government of using the visit of its MPs to his agricultural land in Siddipet to divert attention from public issues. “If even a minor irregularity in my land purchase is proved, I will hand over the entire property to the government,” he said.
Rebutting the charges made by the Congress team, Harish Rao told the media that his 13.12-acre property had been purchased in phases between 2018 and 2024 and that he had sought an official survey to verify its boundaries. He claimed the survey found him in possession of 13 acres and 10 guntas — two guntas less than the registered extent.
Harish Rao denied allegations that the property contained a luxurious farmhouse, saying there was not even a bathroom on the agricultural land. He rejected claims that he had personally laid a road to the property, stating that the existing road was laid by irrigation authorities after the original village road was submerged by the Ranganayakasagar project.
He accused the Congress government of failing to address problems linked to the Section 22A prohibited land list and claimed that farmers continued to face difficulties over land transactions and welfare benefits. He also raised concerns over pending projects and alleged delays in farm loan waivers.
He questioned the need for the Congress MPs’ visit, saying the government had its own revenue machinery — including tahsildars, revenue divisional officers and collectors — to verify land records.
Harish Rao also challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his allegation that former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had encroached on 300 acres of land assigned to the Dalit community. “If it is proved that KCR has no Dalit land, are the Chief Minister, his ministers and Congress MLAs ready to resign,” he asked.
He said the BRS would continue to raise public issues and accused the Congress government of resorting to political diversion instead of addressing them.
