16 Passengers Injured in Road Accident at Kodad
Police said 10 passengers sustained serious injuries in the impact, while others suffered minor injuries.
Nalgonda:At least 16 passengers were injured when a private travel bus collided with a lorry on National Highway 65 at Kodad in Suryapet district on Saturday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred when the bus, belonging to Intercity Travels, rammed into the lorry from behind while travelling from Hyderabad to Eluru in Andhra Pradesh with 36 passengers on board.
Police said 10 passengers sustained serious injuries in the impact, while others suffered minor injuries. Following the collision, panic-stricken passengers broke the bus windows and escaped.
The front portion of the bus reportedly got wedged into the rear of the lorry due to the force of the impact. On receiving information, Kodad police reached the spot and used a JCB to separate the vehicles.
The injured were shifted to the Government Hospital in Kodad by two ambulances. Police said none of the injured are in a critical condition.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway. Preliminary suspicion points to possible drowsy driving, police added.
