158 Homeless Rehabilitated in GHMC, CMC Drive
Shelter, care provided under Praja Palana initiative across city zones

Hyderabad: As part of Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika, a rehabilitation programme for beggars, destitute and homeless persons was conducted on Wednesday across the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits, benefiting 158 individuals.
Of the total, 77 were rehabilitated in GHMC and 81 in CMC. In GHMC, officials identified 107 beggars during the special drive. Among them, 37 were shifted to the Amma-Nanna Orphanage near Choutuppal, where they are being provided medical examinations and other facilities. Another 40 were admitted to various shelter homes within GHMC limits with NGO support, while the remaining were counselled and sent back to their native places.
The drive covered key locations including Nampally and Kachiguda railway stations, KBR Park, Amberpet and Ameerpet junctions, Balkampet temple surroundings, Nanalnagar and Aramghar junctions.
Officials from GHMC, the police department and NGOs participated in the exercise. Authorities described the initiative as a significant step towards rehabilitating the homeless and curbing begging, adding that such drives will be conducted regularly.
In CMC limits, the initiative included safe transportation to shelters, provision of food and basic care, and rehabilitation support. Officials said field teams will continue outreach efforts to ensure care and dignity for those in need.
