14,975 Students Allotted Provisional Seats in DOST 2026 Special Drive
Among courses, 6,198 seats were allotted in commerce, 2,798 in physical sciences, 3,080 in life sciences, 2,878 in arts and 21 in other streams.
Hyderabad:A total of 14,975 students were allotted provisional seats in the DOST special drive phase, the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) announced on Friday. Of these, 12,068 candidates secured seats as per their first preference, 2,906 based on their second or subsequent preferences. Of the 4,39,609 seats up for grabs, only 2,05,212 students confirmed their seats as of Friday.
Among courses, 6,198 seats were allotted in commerce, 2,798 in physical sciences, 3,080 in life sciences, 2,878 in arts and 21 in other streams.
Candidates who secured seats have been asked to self-report online through the DOST website by August 18 and pay the fee through their candidate login. Candidates who complete online self-reporting must also report to their respective colleges on August 17 or 18 and submit the college confirmation OTP. Failure to report to the college will result in the candidate losing the allotted or self-reported seat.
As per the information available with TGCHE, 87,658 students joined 584 private unaided colleges, which offer an intake of 2,49,980, leaving 1,62,322 seats vacant. The 36 autonomous colleges registered 38,824 admissions out of 45,060 seats, while government degree colleges reported 21,182 vacancies.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, TGCHE chairman Prof V. Balakista Reddy said admissions have now reached 2.05 lakh, with the introduction of new courses. He said the number is expected to increase further after the spot admissions.
