140 Maoists To Surrender Before Chhattisgarh CM On Friday

The Maoists are bringing over 70 weapons to lay down before Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and home minister Vijay Sharma at Jagdalpur on Friday.

Nalgonda: A total of 140 Maoists, including central committee member Rupesh, division secretary Ranitha, two DKSZC members, and 15 DVC members, are heading toward Bhairamgarh to surrender.

The Maoists are bringing over 70 weapons to lay down before Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and home minister Vijay Sharma at Jagdalpur on Friday.

Rupesh, a prominent Maoist leader from Andhra Pradesh who operated in Chhattisgarh, played a key role in coordinating between various DKZC divisions and handled logistics, communication, and training in the Maad area. He was considered a vital link between the central committee and the local zonal structure. His surrender is expected to deal a major blow to the outfit’s operational strength in Bastar.

Maad division in-charge Ranitha, one of the senior women commanders, has been active across several Bastar districts.

According to police officials, the Maoists emerged from the forests and crossed the Indravati River along the Dantewada-Bijapur border. They are being escorted to Jagdalpur for the formal surrender ceremony.

Security forces have enforced tight security from Bhairamgarh to the Indravati River ghat, restricting public movement in the area.
