112 Probationary DSPs Trained on POSH Act, Women’s Safety at Telangana Police Academy

Hyderabad:Telangana Police Academy on Saturday conducted a special awareness programme for 112 probationary deputy superintendents of police on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act and women’s safety at workplaces.

The session focused on the implementation of the POSH Act and the responsibilities of police officers in ensuring safe and respectful work environments for women.

CID director general of police Charu Sinha, who attended as the chief guest delivered a detailed presentation on the legal provisions of the POSH Act. She explained that workplace sexual harassment can occur in several forms, including inappropriate remarks, gestures, behaviour and other unwelcome incidents and conducts. She urged officers to recognise such things promptly and ensure victims have access to legal protection and institutional support.

Women safety wing counsellor Isha Sharvani later addressed the officers on the psychological, social and professional challenges faced by women at workplaces. She discussed different forms of sexual harassment and the mechanisms available to address them while encouraging officers to spread awareness within society.
