100 Vehicles Seized In TG Anti-Overloading Drive

Officials warn of stricter penalties, including suspension of permits and licences, for repeat violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Hyderabad: The transport department seized 100 vehicles during a statewide enforcement drive against overloading, officials said on Sunday.

The inspections were carried out across districts to curb road damage and reduce accident risks. Cases were booked against Vehicles found carrying loads beyond permissible limits.

Officials said overloaded vehicles damage roads, place excessive stress on bridges and increase the likelihood of accidents. Mines, quarries, sand reaches, industrial units, transport operators and vehicle owners have been advised to adhere to prescribed load limits.

The department warned that action would be taken under the Motor Vehicles Act against violators. Notices will also be issued to quarries, companies and other establishments found responsible for overloading vehicles.

It said repeat violations would invite stricter penalties, including suspension of vehicle permits and driving licences as per legal provisions. The department added that such enforcement drives will continue across the state with a focus on road safety.
