Telangana Govt Sets Up Rs 1,000-cr FoF for Start-ups

The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of team work and hard work for startups success

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced the creation of a Rs 1,000-crore Start-up Fund of Funds (SFoF) to boost innovation and support emerging entrepreneurs in Telangana.
The fund, he said, would provide a major push to founders looking to scale their ventures and position Hyderabad as a global centre for next-generation technologies. He appealed to start-up leaders to make full use of the fund once operational.
Revanth Reddy was speaking after inaugurating the Google for Start-ups (GfS) hub at T-Hub, marking Google’s first such branded facility in India. IT minister D. Sridhar Babu, CMO special secretary B. Ajith Reddy, IT special chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, deputy secretary Bhavesh Mishra and senior Google executives were present.
The GfS hub aims to nurture Telangana’s start-up ecosystem by providing a dedicated space for entrepreneurs working on cutting-edge solutions. As part of its engagement strategy, Google will offer year-long free coworking seats to select AI-first start-ups and connect them with a tailored network of venture investors and mentors.
The Chief Minister set an ambitious target for the ecosystem, stating that Hyderabad must produce at least 100 unicorns and 10 super-unicorns by 2034. He said the partnership between the state government and Google would strengthen the pipeline of high-potential ventures. “We will work together to build a winning ecosystem,” he said.
Recalling Google’s own journey from a garage in 1998 to becoming one of the world’s most valuable companies, he encouraged founders to pursue bold ideas and aim for billion-dollar outcomes. He noted that several global giants — Google, Apple, Amazon, Tesla and Facebook — were start-ups barely two decades ago and their growth stories should inspire Indian entrepreneurs.
Revanth Reddy also referenced the Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit held over the past two days, where the government outlined its long-term development roadmap. He reiterated the state’s goal of becoming a$1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, stressing that startups would play a decisive role in achieving these milestones.
He pointed to Hyderabad’s own progress over the past 25 years in IT services, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, saying the city had repeatedly demonstrated its capacity to nurture world-class enterprises.
Highlighting the value of perseverance and collaboration, the Chief Minister compared start-up building to football, a sport he actively plays. “It takes practice, teamwork and the will to win. Startups are no different,” he said.
He urged founders to seize the opportunities offered by the upcoming Fund of Funds and the newly launched GfS hub to build ventures capable of shaping the future economy.
