WARANGAL: The police arrested 10 members of a youth group for allegedly gangraping a girl in the name of love and friendship to gain the victim's trust before committing the crime in Jangaon district.
According to the police, the main accused, Mohammad Owaisi, from Jangaon town, initially approached the victim and began a relationship with her. With Owaisi’s help, his friends, who were identified as Pavan Kumar, Shiva Kumar, Abdul Qayyum, Sai Teja, Sumanth Reddy, Saicharan Reddy, Sairam, Ravi, and Sanjay, befriended the woman.
Two months back in June, Owaisi and his friends took her to a room in Jangaon, where they allegedly gangraped her.
Frightened, the victim initially did not tell anyone about the incident. After a few days, one of the accused men pretended to be in love with her and took the girl to Goa, where he also sexually assaulted her.
Upon returning to Jangaon, the victim, with the help of her aunt, filed a police complaint. Based on the investigation, the police nabbed all 10 accused and sent them for judicial remand. Police seized three mobile phones and a car from the accused. The main suspect, Owaisi, is a car driver in Jangaon town.
