Hyderabad: The state government has decided to construct one lakh Indiramma houses in a G+10 model within the Hyderabad Core Urban Region Expansion (CURE) up to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. The locations will be finalised by June 28. The government would ensure that the relocation would not adversely affect employment or livelihood opportunities or access to education and essential services.
Chairing a review meeting at Secretariat on Thursday on Indiramma houses in the CURE region, permanent buildings for revenue and mandal division offices, housing minister Pongleti Srinivas Reddy said the government had decided to take each Assembly constituency as a unit and provide dignified housing to beneficiaries as close as possible to the areas where they reside.
The minister said the government had set a target of constructing one lakh houses in the CURE region during the current fiscal 2026-27. As a pilot initiative, 500 houses will be built in each constituency in the first phase. Of the 26 Assembly constituencies in the CURE region, sites have been identified in nearly 20 constituencies. He directed officials to expedite the identification process in the remaining constituencies and finalise all locations by June 28.
Srinivas Reddy also instructed officials to prepare layouts, designs and construction models for every identified site by the same date. He announced that a detailed brochure containing guidelines, eligibility criteria and application procedures for Indiramma housing would be released in the first week of July.
The minister said the housing projects would be taken up on government lands worth several crores of rupees located in prime urban areas. Reiterating the government's commitment to women's empowerment, he said beneficiaries would be provided an undivided share in the property and the respective share would be registered in the name of women.
