Charminar Task Force Busts Interstate Ganja Peddling Racket
3 Accused Held, 22.22 Kg Ganja Seized

The Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, in coordination with Balapur Police, apprehended three interstate ganja peddlers near Sadat Nagar Bus Stop, Shaheen Nagar, Balapur, on 21.07.2026 and seized 22.22 kg of dry ganja, four mobile phones, two trolley bags and one backpack. The total value of the seized property is approximately ₹12 lakh.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mirza Jaffer Baig alias Saddam (35), Awad Bin Ali Yafai alias Awad (22), and Sardar Manpreet Singh Dhillon alias Dhillon (22), all residents of Hyderabad.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused procured the contraband from Berhampur, Odisha, and transported it to Hyderabad for distribution. To evade police detection, part of the journey was undertaken by bus after travelling by train up to Khammam. The accused were waiting to deliver the contraband to a customer when they were intercepted by the police.
The investigation further disclosed the involvement of Ibrahim Bin Saleem Baamar alias Ibrahim Baamar of Balapur, who allegedly arranged the procurement and transportation, and Janni alias Sunny of Berhampur, Odisha, who is suspected to be the supplier. Both are absconding and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Sri S. Saidababu, Inspector of Police, Charminar Zone Task Force, along with SI M. Madhu, SI M. Mahesh, SI K. Rama Rao, PC S. Balchander and the staff of Balapur Police Station.
