Chennai: Tamil Nadu witnessed a sharp political escalation as TVK founder Vijay launched a blistering attack on the MK Stalin-led Government, holding it directly responsible for what he described as the moral and social collapse facing the state’s youth.
Referring to the recent brutal assault on a young man aboard a train travelling from Chennai to Tiruttani, Vijay said the incident has sent shockwaves across Tamil Nadu, exposing a frightening reality of where the state is headed. “This is not just one crime,” he thundered. “This is a warning sign of a dangerous future that is being allowed to unfold before our eyes.”
In a virtual attack on X platform, Vijay accused the ruling government of apathy and complete abdication of responsibility. He questioned why early warning signs of youth going astray were ignored and why no preventive action was taken. “If young people fall into ruin, does it not matter to those in power?” he asked, calling out what he described as the government’s careless and indifferent attitude.
He painted a grim picture of deteriorating law and order, rampant drug circulation, and a generation being pushed toward destruction. “The future of our youth is being swallowed by narcotics,” he said, alleging that the administration has failed to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse across the state.
Vijay further criticised the lack of meaningful policies aimed at guiding young people toward education, employment and innovation. “There are no real schemes to lead the youth on the right path. There is no environment for quality education, no jobs that match qualifications, no encouragement for innovation, no support for new ideas,” he said. “If you provide none of this, then tell us — for whom are you running this government?”
Turning directly toward Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Vijay demanded immediate and decisive action. He urged the government to use whatever remaining time it has in office to clamp down fully on drug circulation across Tamil Nadu. “At the very least, take responsibility now,” he said, describing the current regime as a “drama government” and calling for concrete steps instead of empty assurances.
His post struck a chord with growing public anxiety around youth safety, crime and governance, marking one of his most forceful interventions yet — and signalling that the political temperature in Tamil Nadu is only set to rise.
