Welfare Board Appointments Begin
Vijay-led government begins welfare board appointments with key TVK nomination

Chennai: The new government headed by C Joseph Vijay began its appointments for the various State welfare boards on Friday by nominating Ku Pa Krishnan, former AIADMK leader who joined the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in January and unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections from Lalgudi constituency, as chairman of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board.
The posts in the welfare boards of the State are normally given to placate party leaders who were not given tickets to contest the elections or those who failed to make it in the polls or leaders of alliance parties.
Krishnan was defeated in the election by Leemarose Martin of the AIADMK. Leemarose Martin is the wife of lottery mogul Santiago Martin and mother-in-law of State PWD Minister Adhav Arjuna.
