Vijay’s Early Lead for TVK Overshadowed by Fan Incident in Krishnagiri

Residents in the area are said to have intervened in time and rushed him to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Early trends in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are pointing to a strong debut for Vijay, with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerging as a major contender on counting day.

Amid the high political drama, a disturbing incident has been reported from Krishnagiri. According to local reports, a 28-year-old man, identified as K. Mahendran, allegedly attempted to take his life after hearing rumours about Vijay’s electoral prospects. Police officials said the incident occurred shortly before counting began and that the man was reportedly under severe emotional distress.

Residents in the area are said to have intervened in time and rushed him to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have stated that further details are being investigated.

Meanwhile, early counting trends suggest that TVK has made significant inroads in its debut electoral outing, reportedly crossing the 100-seat mark. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is currently in second place, while the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, led by M. K. Stalin, appears to be trailing.

Vijay himself is said to be leading in both Perambur in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli East, constituencies that have traditionally been strongholds of the DMK. His performance in these key seats is being closely watched as an indicator of TVK’s wider impact across the state.

Perambur, a significant urban constituency in North Chennai, has long been associated with Dravidian party dominance. In the previous assembly election, the DMK had secured a comfortable victory here. However, shifting voter preferences and the entry of a new political force appear to have reshaped the contest this time.

As counting continues, the focus remains on whether TVK can sustain its early momentum and convert these trends into a major electoral breakthrough. At the same time, the incident in Krishnagiri has raised concerns about the intense emotional investment of supporters during high-stakes elections.
