Usher In New Year with 'Dravidian Pongal', Greets CM
Apart from the sporting events, competitions on arts and literature would also be part of the ‘Equality Pongal’ that would begin with the New Year

Chennai: Conveying his New Year greetings to the people of the State, Chief Minister M K Stalin said the year 2026 would usher in the Dravidian Model Rule 2.0 and the DMK would continue the fight with the BJP for upholding the State’s rights as the Union government had been inimical towards the State in the past five years.
The State was facing a unique situation in which the opposition party that should be standing up and fighting had fallen flat and the ruling party that should have been allowed to freely take care of governance had to take up the cudgels on behalf of the people and spar with the Union Government, Stalin said in his message on the eve of the New Year on Wednesday.
Making use of the occasion to target the Union Government on the National Education Policy (NEP) and the bid to impose Hindi, the president of the DMK urged his party cadre to organize ‘Dravidian Pongal’ in the New Year that would mark the start of the Dravidian Model Rule 2.0 that was essential for the continuation of the plethora of welfare schemes.
Affirming the DMK’s role in being at the forefront of protecting Indian democracy with its allies standing by them, Stalin said in his letter to party members that it was pertinent to continue with the people’s welfare schemes by winning the elections.
In the last 5 years of rule, which had been a struggle for rights, the DMK had been holding the sword in one hand to continue the fight and the shield in the other hand to protect the people’s welfare, he said.
Taking exception to the Union Government attempting to thrust Hindi through the National Education Policy and changing the name of the rural employment guarantee scheme to VB G RAM G, he stressed on the need to win the battle to protect the interest of the people by continuing the welfare measures.
Vowing to work for democracy by defeating the strategies of the enemies and their elements, he urged the cadre to follow the party tradition, started by M Karunanidhi, who celebrated Samathuva Pongal festival as an event for equality and social justice.
The people of the State were our support system, he said and drew up a plan for the Dravidian Pongal festivities that would kick start with the New Year. He wanted the organization of various competitions in each and every village, facilitating the participation of every Tamil.
Apart from the sporting events, competitions on arts and literature would also be part of the ‘Equality Pongal’ that would begin with the New Year, he said.
