Two Killed As Bus Rear-Ends Lorry on Chennai-Trichy Highway
According to police, the omnibus was heading to Madurai from Chennai when it collided with the lorry, which was traveling from Tindivanam to Pudukkottai
Perambalur: Two persons were killed and six others injured when a private omnibus rear-ended a moving lorry on the Chennai-Tiruchirappalli National Highway here on Thursday, police said.The accident took place near the Electricity Board (EB) office at the four-road flyover.
According to police, the omnibus was heading to Madurai from Chennai when it collided with the lorry, which was traveling from Tindivanam to Pudukkottai.
The deceased have been identified as Pon Paldurai (52) of Singampunari in Tirupattur district, and Thirunavukkarasu (32) of Manali in Tiruvallur district.
Six people, including the omnibus driver and a woman passenger, sustained injuries in the crash. They have been admitted to the Perambalur Government Hospital for treatment.
A case was registered and further investigations are underway.
