TVK Nominates Those Who Caused By-Elections As Candidates
The DMK has fielded I Paranthaman in Madurantakam and S Sukanya in Dharapuram and the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is expected to name its candidates soon

Chennai: The TVK announced the names of the two former AIADMK MLAs, who caused the by-elections to the Madurantakam (SC) and Dharapuram (SC) Assembly constituencies by resigning, as its candidates in the respective seats, while the AIADMK chose other candidates in a bid to retain the seats that technically belonged to it.
So, Maragatham Kumaravel will be the ruling party’s nominee for Madurantakam and P Sathyabhama for Dharapuram and they will be facing AIADMK’s Kanitha Sampath and Bhanumathi respectively in the elections scheduled for October 6 as the seats are considered to be AIADMK bastions that returned candidates of that party to the Assembly

While the TVK hopes to win the by-elections on the strength of the personal popularity of the two candidates in their constituencies, the AIADMK will strive hard to retain their seats. The two candidates called on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami after they were named as party nominees.
Four other AIADMK candidates, who had also switched loyalties to the ruling TVK and resigned their MLA posts are waiting to contest again in the by-elections whenever they are called.
