TVK MLA Brings Newborn to Assembly, Refutes Criticism of Creating ‘Scene’

Recently, Pallavi took her baby to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, also the TVK founder, in the Assembly premises and he blessed the child

Chennai: First time TVK MLA in Tamil Nadu R Pallavi has created quite a buzz, bringing her newborn to the ongoing Assembly session.

She brings her baby with her to the Tamil Nadu Assembly premises and leaves the newborn under the care of an attendant when she enters the main hall to take part in the proceedings, official sources said here on Tuesday.

The caregiver takes care of the MLA's baby in a room near the Assembly hall till such time she returns, sources added.

Recently, Pallavi took her baby to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, also the TVK founder, in the Assembly premises and he blessed the child.

On criticism in the social media that she was "creating a scene" by carrying her child everywhere, she said the accusation was unfair and asserted that she cannot leave her child at home.

"What is there to create a scene?...How can I leave the newborn at home? Please think and then make a comment; It is okay even if you do not understand the pain of others; but do not troll," she had told a YouTube channel.

In the April 2026 Assembly polls, Pallavi was elected from Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar segment in Chennai.

The ongoing session of the Assembly is scheduled till September 8.
