TN Industrial Vision Eyes Growth Across State

Special emphasis on Vettri Women Entrepreneurs Development Scheme: Reports

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s industrial strategy for 2026–27 will focus on spreading industrial growth across regions, creating jobs, strengthening MSMEs and women-led enterprises and preparing the state for emerging technologies, said industries, investment promotion and commerce minister S. Keerthana.

The minister said the government’s industrial vision was centered on ensuring investments translated into employment, enterprise, innovation and opportunities across the state. She described the announcements for 2026–27 as part of a broader strategy to strengthen existing industrial ecosystems while creating new investment centres in emerging regions.

The government is proposing significant expansion of industrial infrastructure in southern and emerging districts.

In Thoothukudi, Sipcot will establish a new industrial park at Mudaivaithanendal across about 2,570 acres. The project is expected to attract around ₹5,000 crore in investment and generate about 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.

An EV manufacturing industrial park will be established at Sillanatham, in Thoothukudi, to attract around ₹7,000 crore in investment and create about 10,000 jobs.

Industrial parks proposed at Omandur in Villupuram and Lathuvadi in Namakkal are each expected to attract around ₹1,000 crore in investment, generating approximately 3,200 and 3,500 jobs respectively.

The government will also focus on worker welfare alongside industrial expansion. At the Gangaikondan Sipcot Industrial Park, accommodation for more than 2,500 workers will be developed under phase-II at an estimated cost of ₹130 crore through public-private participation.

Existing Sipcot parks will also see improvements to social and environmental infrastructure, including recycled water systems, rainwater infrastructure, solar lighting, creches, fire stations and health centres.

Sipcot’s land allocation process will be strengthened through a comprehensive digital platform. Investors will be able to access information on available industrial land and park layouts digitally, including through 3D visualisation.

Around ₹224 crore will also be invested in plug-and-play industrial facilities at Gangaikondan and Thoothukudi.
