Tirunelveli TVK Councillor Suspended for Blowing Whistle in Council
Mayor Ramakrishnan asked him to stop and warned that he would be sent out of the council hall if he continued whistling

Tirunelveli: Tirunelveli Corporation Mayor Ramakrishnan suspended TVK councillor Alla Pitchai of ward 19 from attending the next two council meetings after he repeatedly blew his party symbol, 'whistle', and disrupted Monday’s council proceedings.
Mr Pitchai, who had switched from the DMK to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), arrived 40 minutes late for the meeting wearing a TVK shawl and blowing a whistle. Mayor Ramakrishnan asked him to stop and warned that he would be sent out of the council hall if he continued whistling.
However, Mr Pitchai ignored the warning. He also presented shawls to Congress and Left party councillors before again blowing the whistle, disrupting the proceedings. DMK councillors then surrounded him and demanded that he be expelled from the hall. Some councillors even threw water bottles at him during the commotion.
As Mr Pitchai continued blowing the whistle despite the Mayor’s warning, Mr Ramakrishnan ordered him to leave the council hall and issued an interim suspension barring the TVK councillor from participating in the next two council meetings for conduct that disrupted the dignity of the Corporation council.
The Mayor too said that there was no objection to councillors wearing party shawls, but warned that strict action would be taken if party symbols were used inside the council hall to create a disturbance during the proceedings.
