Tigress With Cubs Straying Into Ooty Suburb Triggers Panic
The locals want the foresters to act fast to drive the tigress and cubs to the nearby jungles
Ooty: Tigers that strayed into the residential areas in Riching Colony limits in the suburbs here triggered panic among the residents as foresters have come to face a challenging task of tackling this man-tiger conflict.
Only a couple of days ago, the forest department heaved a sigh of relief as their month-long search operation to capture the man-eater tiger in the Gudalur limits in the Nilgiris finally fructified.
However, in a sudden development, a tigress with three cubs was spotted straying into the residential limits in the Riching Colony in Lovedale limits, hardly 5 km off this hill town.
The residents there who spotted the tigress with cubs said the big cat, though did not try to attack any human elements as well as the livestock, triggered panic as the tigress and cubs were spotted roaming freely and even entering the residential premises in the night hours.
The locals want the foresters to act fast to drive the tigress and cubs to the nearby jungles or make arrangements to capture them alive for relocation as the movement of tigress leads to sleepless nights for residents in Lovedale limits.
