Thanjavur: The court here on Wednesday released on bail Akash (26), son of Nagarajan of Vilar village, who was arrested for slapping a sub-inspector of police who slapped him at a road roko agitation by the VCK members on Monday.
It may be recalled that VCK members were putting up flex boards near the railway station to celebrate the birthday of party president Thol. Thirumavalavan. As police objected to putting up flex boards, VCK members staged a road roko. At that time, Akash came to that side on a motorcycle. When VCK members did not allow him to go, he tried to go and argued with VCK workers. Police tried to pacify them. In the melee, sub-inspector Abdul Raheem slapped Akash and, in turn, Akash slapped him. The police arrested him and Ayyappan of Pudukkottai and sent them to Pudukottai prison.
On Wednesday, as the police did not object to bail, considering the age and future of the two youths, the court released them on bail.
