Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram To Be Given to 615 Nilgiris Infants

Ooty: In the initial stage, as many as 615 infants in the Nilgiris will benefit from the Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam (Maternal Uncle Gold Ring Scheme) that was launched here on Monday as part of the state-wide rollout by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in Madurai.
According to the scheme introduced by the TVK Government, every newborn delivered in a government hospital or primary health centre in the state will receive a free one gram, 22 carat gold ring. The scheme was meant to celebrate childbirth, promote safe institutions deliveries, build public trust in government healthcare initiatives and to support the families that trust and rely on the government hospitals for health care.
At a function held at Sait memorial government maternity hospital here, Nilgiris Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru launched the scheme and distributed gold rings to the eligible infant beneficiaries.
