Tirupattur: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Wednesday said that whether the Communist parties wanted to contest the upcoming by-election, switch alliances, or extend support was a decision to be taken by them. He said it was not for him to comment.
He was speaking to presspersons after garlanding the statue and portrait of freedom fighter, social worker and prominent Vanniyar leader S.S. Ramasamy Padayachi at the Vaniyambadi bus stand in Tirupattur district on the occasion of his 108th birth anniversary.
The Speaker said he was functioning as a non-partisan member, giving plenty of opportunities to opposition members, and the latter had themselves praised his neutral stand.
Later, Forests Minister and Tirupattur district in-charge Minister Ranjith Kumar and Tirupattur MLA Dr. Tirupathi also paid floral tributes to the portrait of Ramasamy Padatachi.
