Tamil Nadu Private Schools Directed to Publicly Display Tuition Fee Details
Under the new directive, schools must prominently display the fee structure on notice boards at the main entrance, publish the information on their official websites, and print it on student admission application forms

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has directed all private schools in the state to publicly display government-approved tuition fee details, following complaints of schools charging excess fees and collecting hidden admission charges from parents.
Under the new directive, schools must prominently display the fee structure on notice boards at the main entrance, publish the information on their official websites, and print it on student admission application forms.
The order applies to more than 13,000 recognised private schools across Tamil Nadu and will come into effect from June 4, when schools reopen after the summer break.
Officials warned that schools violating the directive could face strict action, including cancellation of recognition. The move aims to improve transparency in fee collection and prevent unauthorised charges.
Authorities have also urged parents to report any instances of schools collecting fees beyond the government-approved limits by lodging complaints with the concerned officials.
