Tamil Nadu No 2 In Per Capita Income

Union Minister of State for Finance had informed the Lok Sabha that the State per capita income was at Rs 1,96,309 as against the national average of Rs 1,14,710, an official press release issued by the State government on Tuesday said.

Chennai:Tamil Nadu added one more feather to its already decorated hat with the Union Government declaring that the State’s per capita income was the second highest in the country and was higher than the national average.

Union Minister of State for Finance had informed the Lok Sabha that the State per capita income was at Rs 1,96,309 as against the national average of Rs 1,14,710, an official press release issued by the State government on Tuesday said.

Attributing all the growth that the State had seen in the last four years to the plethora of schemes launched by the present State government, headed by M K Stalin, the release also pointed to the State registering 9.69 percent growth, which was the highest in the past 10 years.

Listing out the various welfare measures launched by the government, the release said that the State had generated 32,04,895 job opportunities through a plethora of schemes and that other initiatives like the free bus ride for women and the disbursal of Rs 1000 every month to 1.15 crore housewives under the Kalignar Magalir Urimai Thittam.
