Tiruchirappalli: Tamil Nadu HR & CE Minister S. Ramesh has warned the temple staff who collect extra fees for basic facilities and take money for free darshan in temples across the state.
He said at Srirangam on Sunday that action was taken against a person who collected money for the free lavatory facility at Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple.
Addressing complaints about health hazards due to water stagnation in the Srirangam temple drains, he said that efforts are underway to clear the large boulders that fell inside the channels during recent temple construction works.
He said the government has instructed officials to complete the pending rail overbridge works in Tiruchy city at the earliest, and the Tiruchirappalli city corporation is extending its cooperation in this connection.
Replying to a question, he said that non-Hindus entered the Tiruvannamalai temple only after obtaining proper permission. There is no violation of rules in this. The soil of Tamil Nadu stands for secularism and social justice, he said.
