CHENNAI: Greetings from Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Tamil film actor Dhanush to devotees who celebrated Krishna Jayanthi on Friday evoked interest in the political circles for various reasons with some people pointing out that former Chief Minister M K Stalin never greeted people for Hindu religious festivals.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, too, extended his good wishes on the occasion, citing Lord Krishna’s steadfastness in his duty, which was also the highlight of Vijay’s message that stressed on the importance of Dharma and duty.
Dhanush’s one line greeting, ‘wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Krishna Jayanti’, sparked speculation on his entering politics though he has not yet spoken openly about it. The red and white flag launched by his All India Dhanush Fans and Welfare association led to tongues wagging on his future plans to enter politics.
Since his father-in-law and superstar Rajinkanth came close to launching a party much ahead of Vijay starting his TVK, it is speculated that Dhanush might start from where Rajnikanth left. To add credence to such conjectures, Dhanush gave a call to his fans for social outreach and charity. His speech that went viral too emphasized on Tamil pride.
Vijay was lauded for this Krishna Jayanthi greeting to people, including some celebrities, one of whom said that it was a welcome change after five years of having ‘Hindu festivals alone ignored by a so-called secular Government.’ A message on X said: ‘After 5 years under a never rising sun, this year in Tamil Nadu, all people across faiths rejoice and celebrate for all festivals’
