Tamil Nadu Devotees Fulfil Vows Covering Themselves in Mud

The festival of the Sri Sakthi Mariamman temple, located in Karungulam village, near Kamudi, began with the hoisting of the flag

Rameswaram: Devotees dressed up as Sethandi, covered their bodies with mud and took out a procession at midnight to the Sri Sakthi Mariamman temple, near Kamudi, in Ramanathapuram district as part of the 26th annual Aadi pongal mulapari utsava festival.

The festival of the Sri Sakthi Mariamman temple, located in Karungulam village, near Kamudi, began with the hoisting of the flag.

Special abishekam, decoration and deeparadhanai are being held for Sakthi Mariamman every day of the festival.

As the main event of the festival, a large number of devotees dressed up as Sethandi and covered their bodies with mud to gain health and wellness.

At midnight, devotees danced enthusiastically along with musical instruments and took out a procession through the main streets of the village and fulfilled their vows by going to the Sakthi Mariamman temple.
